[TWILIGHT FANFIC]
Chapter 5: Rewind

             I was astonished at the speed and time it took for us to run to a patch of thick woods somewhere near the Canadian border.
            "I don't think she will be as bad as I was." Emmett whispered to Jasper.
            "It's weird because she is so young, you would think she wouldn't beable to control herself like an immortal child." Jasper glanced at me. "Maybe she was very mature for her age."
            "I can hear you." I murmured through the trees and Emmett swung his big head around the trunk he was hiding behind and smirked at me. He dissapeared and I saw him not a second later standing by my side as Jasper followed. "Being in a group home your whole life tends to make you grow up really fast. Not to mention being told you have only a few days to live, in a coma too."
            "If you ever smell human blood, just hold your breath." Emmett laughed and clapped me on the back. "Try for bigger game like a bear or moose."
            "Don't get the poor girl hurt, Emmett." Jasper added and pointed to a deer about a mile away. I caught her scent and it didn't taste as good as before but still made me yearn to attack.
            In an instant I was crouched over her lifeless body. The blood spilled down the back of my throat and didn't really quench my thirst but made it a low hum in the back of my mind. It was as if I was starving for meat and potatoes with an ear of corn and lots and lots of gravy, but had a salad instead. My belly still growled but I tried to hold it in to not show I wasn't satisfied.
            "I'm a monster." I whispered as I snapped out of my hunting state and saw the doe laying mauled and quiet. Blood stained my hands and face as I caught my reflection in a puddle.
            "Killing a human makes you a monster." Jasper said as he crouched to wash his hands with the water as I followed him. Emmett laughed at us and Jasper turned to glare at him, "Shut up, you were no better!"
            "But you thought it was the only way until you met Alice!" Emmett bellowed and shook the trees with his amusement.
            "You went on a spree and had to move the entire family!" Jasper laughed with him and looked to me. "We like it here, please don't ruin it for us."
            "I don't want to kill anything!" I screamed and shook the ground beneath my fists as I rose. Jasper looked behind me with wide eyes and I heard a rustling coming from the dead doe I had eaten. When I turned to see the tiny commotion I saw the dear, unharmed, get up on her feet as she saw us and sprint away.
            "Did you do that?" Emmett asked not looking the least bit astonished. I glanced back at the direction the deer had escaped to and didn't know what he meant. "Is that your power? Is that her power?" He turned to Jasper and started to chuckle. "I get strength, Edward gets mind reading, Alice gets the future, Bella gets a sheild, Jasper gets pansy mood control, and you get to bring things back to life? "
            "At least I have a power! Strength really isn't a power..." Jasper corrected him and Emmett shot him a false 'hurt' look. "I don't think it was to bring it back to life, maybe just to correct what was done." With that he swung back and cracked his hand on a mature spruce tree and stepped aside as it fell at our feet. Emmett rolled his eyes and opted just to watch. "Fix it." Jasper growled and I took a step back, Why such a firm tone in his voice? Was he angry at me?
            "I don't know what you mean." I shook my head and he crossed his arms.
            "Get mad, do what ever it is needed to fix that tree!"
            "I can't just 'POOF' fix it! I don't know what I did! How are you so sure I can't bring things to life instead of just fixing them?" I screamed at him and balled up my fists. As the emotion rolled over my entire body the tree shook and a few splinters returned back to the trunk and Jasper cracked a tiny smirk in his stone cold angry stare. I tried to push more emotion into my mind and through my body and as I did the trunk rose like it was on rewind and bit by bit placed itself back togather. As soon as it did I felt a wave of ease wash over me and no more emotion to spare.
            "We have GOT to tell Carlisle!" Emmett examined the tree and looked at me as he approached. I took a step back and he wrapped his massive arms around my body and pulled me up in a bear hug. "Look at you little-bear, all grown up!"
